Peace Education
Maria Montessori was of the belief that the life of our nation, as well as civilization as a whole, depended on peace and thus felt as though the child was both a hope and promise for mankind. To that end, at Mayfair Gardens Montessori, we use Sonnie McFarland's flower of peace model to help young children develop appropriate strategies to gain self-awareness, community awareness, cultural awareness, and environmental awareness through activities that are developmentally appropriate.
